Paradise Valley is a gorge carved by centuries of mountain water, famous for its series of crystal-clear emerald pools, natural rock slides, and palm-shaded terraces. The water is cool, fresh, and a welcome change of temperature after the Atlantic — perfect for a float between cliff jumps.
The Perfect Day Trip
We usually set off mid-morning, once the morning surf session is done and the sun is high. A guide will lead the way along the mountain paths, and by midday you’ll be swimming in a pool that looks straight out of a postcard.
- Cliff jumping: pick your height — there’s a ledge for everyone.
- Natural rock slides: a gentle ride into the deep blue pools.
- Picnic on the rocks: our packed lunch tastes even better with a mountain view.
- Photography: bring your camera, the colors here are unreal.
Good to Know
Bring water shoes (the rocks are smooth and slippery), a towel, and sun cream. There’s a famous restaurant with views over the valley where we often stop for mint tea on the way back. The whole trip takes about half a day, making it the perfect relaxed break in the middle of your surf week.
Our tip: schedule Paradise Valley for the windiest day of your stay. When the morning swell is blown out, the pools are calling.
